Every one of the four approaches below is, underneath its marketing name, a different answer to which side of that equation to spend on. HBM widens W by moving the bus off the board and onto silicon. Large on-die SRAM removes the bus from the equation almost entirely by refusing to leave the die. CXL keeps a narrow, serial W and pays for capacity with the latency and protocol overhead of a switched fabric instead. PIM does not touch B at all — it reduces the number of trips the equation has to be paid for.
